Kenyan-born and former Senator Lucy Gichuhi has failed to raise enough funds to facilitate the transportation of her daughter’s body for burial in Kenya.

Her daughter, Peris Kadada Gichugi passed on in Australia. She was set to be buried in Kenya with the family seeking to raise Sh3.3 million to give her a befitting send-off.

“It is the desire of the family to give her a befitting send-off by repatriating the remains to her motherland Kenya,” read the announcement a few weeks ago.

The plans have however been canceled as she will now be buried in Australia.

An obituary placed in Tuesday’s dailies in Kenya, the family said Peris will be buried next Monday in Adelaide, Australia.

“On the 27th September 2021 there will be a Church Service at Influencers (Paradise) Church, followed by burial at the Centennial Park Adelaide, South Australia,” the obituary read.
