President Uhuru Kenyatta has kicked off his two-day tour of the Ukambani region, where he is accompanied by Raila Odinga, Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka, Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos), and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni).

At his first stop in Wote, when inspecting the construction of Thwake Dwam, President Uhuru heaped unusual praise on ODM leader Raila Odinga, while lashing out at his Deputy President William Ruto whom he has described as divisive and trying to poison the minds of young Kenyans.

Sio tu kuongea kwa sababu unataka kuchafua mafikira ya vijana,” the president said.

The Head of State also hit out at the donations mentality being perpetuated by the Tanga Tanga camp, saying the country cannot develop on handouts, that leaders must have concrete plans for Kenyans and empower them.

”Lazima uwe na mipango. Mipango huwezi kua nayo usipofikiria mahitaji itasaidia mwananchi. Wanainchi hawataki kupewa. Wanataka uwezo wa kujitafutia na kujisimamia,” he added.

On Wednesday, the president held private talks with Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka, a meeting said to have been to iron out any issues between the two party leaders, as the trio (Uhuru, Raila, Kalonzo) plot on forming an alliance with like-minded players ahead of 2022.
