President Uhuru drums up support for Raila in Naivasha [+video]

President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently in Mbita, Homabay county inspecting a number of state development projects after making surprise stops in Kisii and Kisumu counties. According to reports, the Head of State landed at the Kisii State Lodge mid-morning from Naivasha, before heading to Kisumu at 2 pm to inspect the ongoing works at the Kisumu Port.

Speaking in Naivasha earlier, the Head of State said in Gikuyu language the country does not need a leader who makes citizens fight, and that it was only Raila who can guarantee every country man and woman peace after the elections.

From Naivasha the president flew to Kisii State lodge and then to Kisumu and Homabay counties.

This is the first time the Head of State was visiting the Luo Nyanza region without former prime minister Raila Odinga. The visits were also unplanned and area MPs have been caught unawares.

President Uhuru’s Nyanza surprise visit is coming just days before the official launch of Raila Odinga’s presidential campaigns at the Thika Stadium on Saturday,15th. Both President Uhuru and the ODM boss are lobbying for the Azimio la Umoja, whose presidential ticket will be flown by Odinga in August.
