President Ruto’s First Order of Business: Flattening Mt Kenya Billionaires

Just hours before taking oath as the country’s President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President-elect William Ruto has his eyes trained on Mt Kenya oligarchs and notable members of the popular Mt Kenya Foundation who bankrolled Azimio and its candidate, Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

Top among those targetted is RMS boss SK Macharia, a media mogul and business magnate who was the face of Mt Kenya billionaires in Mr. Odinga’s campaign. Also, Mr. Macharia’s media establishment was accused by Ruto’s camp of leaning towards the Azimio-One Kenya Coalition during the campaigns.

A source who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity says the move of going after the region’s business owners has a much bigger goal and will economically cripple Mt Kenya – the country’s richest community, in years to come.

”New billionaires dancing to the whims of Kenya Kwanza are to be created. Mt Kenya Foundation members have multi-billion businesses that have employed millions of Kikuyus and given them solid economic might. Once the businesses start failing due to being at loggerheads with the government, Kikuyus will be at the mercy of the new president including members of the Mt Kenya Foundation,” the source said.

Last year in December at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, MKF Chairman Peter Munga said their entity had reached out to all communities in the country and brought them together to support Raila Odinga and the Azimio coalition.

MKF stated from the onset they were opposed to William Ruto’s presidency and stated it was not comfortable with Kenyans being led by leaders clouded by shadows of graft and with no solid loyalty to protecting the Constitution.
