Orange Democratic Movement (ODM ) top brass are alleging a plot by Deputy President William Ruto to return the country to a one-party state, in what mirrors the Nyayo era under the late President Moi.
Speaking on Thursday at the burial of Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo’s mother, the leaders also said attempts by the DP Ruto led UDA to trivialize political institutions were very deliberate in ensuring their agenda goes through.
“The camp led by Ruto wants to trivialise political institutions. We cannot kill some political parties to favor a single party. The death of smaller parties would spell doom for the country and drag it back to the days of the one-party state,” the MP said, adding that parties must be allowed to conduct their own activities.

”That is why we have decided to let everyone join us in the Azimio la Umoja,” said Wandayi.
The leaders, among them Senator James Orengo, MPs Walter Owino (Awendo), Jared Okello (Nyando), Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga), David Ochieng (Ugenya), Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang and Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) asked Kenyans to critically evaluate Raila Odinga and William Ruto, their style of politics and their economic plans and see who truly has the interests of Kenya at heart.
”The politics of bottoms up is like the politics of trickle-down. It cannot lead to job creation. Only Raila’s model can create job and I am asking Kenyans to look at the two models carefully,” Senator Orengo said.
