ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna is calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Interior CS Fred Matiangi, over his role in the just concluded Bonchari by-elections.
Dr. Matiangi has been fingered for personally commanding the police paramilitary unit as well as the Provincial Administration to force a win for the ruling party’s candidate (Jubilee) Zebedeo Opore.
”Matiangi behaves like a beast, clobbering his own people in Kisii like they are animals. Uhuru must #SackMatiangi or send him to the ministry of wildlife. He will be at home.” the ODM SG tweeted.
The ODM and UDA parties have recounted how police officers, under instruction of Interior CS Fred Matiangi frustrated efforts by their candidates, and supporters to campaign for the seat which was clinched by Eng. Pavel Oimeke of the ODM Party.
The Interior CS was keen on making a political statement in the Gusii region and was eyeing a victory in the hotly contested seat. The Bonchari by-elections pit ODM party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta against each other for the first time since joining forces in the famous March 2018 Handshake.
