Obado’s massive PDP recruitment drive in Migori to rival ODM

Migori Governor Okoth Obado has reportedly rolled out a massive recruitment drive for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) an outfit he heads. This comes after announcing last month, he will be ditching ODM to focus on his political party, with plans of running for the top seat in future.

According to multiple sources, the exercise will run for six months in all the eight constituencies in the county, where residents will be registered both manually and digitally.

”He wants to upset ODM in Migori. This new membership drive is to help him a stable party with a base in Migori before expanding to neighboring counties,” a source confided to this publication.

Meanwhile, the populous Suna clan has settled on County Secretary Christopher Rusana to run for the Migori gubernatorial position in 2022. At a meeting in Kisii over the weekend, Suba elders picked the county secretary saying he had what it takes to lead Migori when Governor Obado retires.

The meeting was attended by Mrs. Pamela Odhiambo, Mr. Christopher Rusana, Mr. Philip Mwabe, and former MP John Pesa all of whom have declared their interest in the seat.

The Suna clan is part of the Suba community and has one of the biggest vote blocks comprising Suna West (46,162 votes) and Suna East (46,574 votes) out of the 389,182 votes in Migori.
