Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is set to unveil his own political outfit, the Kenya Peoples Party (KPP), signalling his determination to chart an independent political path in the Mt Kenya region.
The legislator has turned down appeals to join former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), opting instead to acquire his own political vehicle for 2027.
Nyoro’s decision to establish KPP comes amid intensifying jockeying for political supremacy in Mt Kenya.
The MP is expected to formally launch the party during a series of planned political engagements across Murang’a County and the wider Mt Kenya region, where he will seek to rally grassroots support for his new movement.
His rejection of Gachagua’s DCP, which the former DP has promoted as the primary political platform for Mt Kenya, sets the stage for a potential rivalry between the two leaders as they compete for regional influence.
addressed mounting speculation about his political allegiance, declaring that he departed from President William Ruto’s camp “a very long time ago” and has been quietly building a new political movement.
The MP who has faced criticism for allegedly being a fence-sitter and a mole within the opposition plans to position his KPP as an alternative political vehicle for Mt Kenya region.
“I am cautious enough not to take the people to the mud again,” Nyoro stated, explaining his decision to chart a new political path rather than align with existing parties in the region.
