Kenya’s former First Lady and the mother to current president Uhuru Kenyatta has described ODM leader Raila Odinga as a leader she has immense respect for because he was among the icons who stood firm for democracy when it mattered, and that there is no Kenyan who does not know his contribution to the country’s progress.
”Raila is one of the leaders I respect so much because he stood firm in the fight for democracy, there is nobody who doesn’t know the numerous contributions he has made in this country since he joined Politics. Raila Odinga means well for this country” the former First Lady said on Sunday.
This is the first time Mama Ngina is publicly throwing her weight behind Raila, after the fallout between the Kenyatta and the Odinga family in 1963.
Already, the family of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta has publicly declared they want the former prime minister to succeed Uhuru, and Mama Ngina’s statement seals the deal.
