Tanzania’s President John Magufuli is in good health and working normally. This is according to Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa. There have been numerous reports online indicating President John Magufuli was flown into Kenya for specialised treatment after Covid-19 attack. Prime Miniter Majaliwa said the rumours on President Magufuli’s health are peddled by hateful Tanzanians living abroad.
“Tanzanians should be at peace. Your president is around, healthy, working hard. To spread rumours that he is sick is just an outcome of hate,” the PM said after Friday prayers in the southern Njobe region.
“I have decided to say this to give hope to Tanzanians that our president is around. If he were sick, would I talk to him on the phone? He sent his greetings to you,” he added.
Magufuli, a PHD holder, has denounced and mocked coronavirus presence in Tanzania, saying it was a Western conspiracy against Africa. President Magufuli had gone ahead and declared Tanzania coronavirus free and opposed the wearing of masks as well as social distancing.
In May last year, Tanzania stopped reporting coronavirus data after recording 509 cases and 21 deaths, according to the WHO.
