Kuria accuses DP Ruto of fighting Chama Cha Kazi

2 mins read

Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria is accusing the Deputy President of using proxies in Meru, to fight his Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) candidate in the Kiagu ward by-election.

Yesterday afternoon, the IEBC disqualified Milton Mwenda Kabobo saying he did not resign as a public officer within the legally provided timeline of seven days after the declaration of the vacancy for the seat.

“The commission’s Leadership and Integrity Vetting Committee has disqualified Milton Mwenda and Nathan Gitonga from contesting in the Kiagu County Assembly ward by-election in Meru County that is slated for 14th October 2021,” IEBC wrote in their statement.

“The Committee found the two failed to resign as public officers within the legally provided timeline of 7 days after the declaration of the vacancy. Chama Cha Kazi party has been given the option of nominating another candidate within 72 hours to contest in the by-election.”

In a statement on Thursday night, Moses Kuria pointed an accusing finger to UDA coordinator in charge of Couth Imenti, saying he was the one who lodged a complaint on Mwenda.

”Today the IEBC has disqualified the Chama Cha Kazi candidate for Kiagu By-Election Milton Mwenda Kabobo following a petition by the South Imenti UDA Coordinator Salesio Mutuma Thuranira. The party has been asked to submit a replacement candidate. We are dissatisfied with this decision and we will move to the High Court first thing tomorrow (today) morning to challenge this decision,” the MP wrote.

After insisting on keeping his party, Moses Kuria got into a collision path with DP Ruto and his allies in UDA who have accused him of trying to upstage Ruto in Mt Kenya.

Kuria, together Mwangi Kiunjuri, of The Service Party (TSP) who were pushing the hustler nation agenda in Mt Kenya have since charted their own political paths and are part of the Mt Kenya Unity Caucus.
