Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka will only support Raila Odinga in 2022 if the ODM leader is ready to reciprocate the backing in one way or the other.
Speaking on Wednesday from his Karen home in Nairobi, the former Vice President revealed even though he and Raila have not sat down to discuss 2022, he can only back the former with some measure of reciprocity.
“I’m not a weakling. Raila and I have never sat to discuss 2022. I will be the most stupid person on earth to support Raila Odinga for President for the third time without a measure of reciprocity, ” the former VP told NTV on Wednesday evening.
Those in the know have confided to this writer, the Wednesday statement from the former VP is to raise his stakes and, he also knows, working together with Mr. Odinga is the only sure route to power in 2022. Insiders from Wiper say Mr. Musyoka has settled for the Prime Minister’s position, not the top seat, and it is only in a camp with Raila Odinga that he is assured of a successful slot.
Kalonzo is currently a part of the One Kenya Alliance bringing together Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi, and Moses Wetangula. The Wiper boss has also dismissed media reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta declared on Tuesday at State House he will support one of the former NASA principals for the top seat in 2022.
“We were shocked to hear other people making issues out of it. I cannot remember President Uhuru Kenyatta saying he will back a Nasa presidential candidate,” he said.
