Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni says the party is waiting for Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s direction on the planned Opposition rally on Wednesday at the Kamukunji grounds two days after claiming his party will not be part of the planned demonstrations despite being a member of the Opposition.

Speaking on Monday at a local radio station, Kioni, who seemed to have abandoned his earlier stance on the demos said Jubilee Party is strongly in the Opposition and will be reaching out to Mr. Odinga for finer details on the December 7th rally.

”We will get the details of it. If it is a rally that we will need to attend as members of the opposition then we will attend. I am sure we will get communication from Raila Odinga. I will reach out to him so that we get into the details of when is the rally meeting and what is the plan.”

Mr. Kioni said picketing and demonstrations were enshrined in the Constitution and that the government cannot take the right away from Kenyans.

”Protesting is a tool that is available to the opposition and they should use it when they think it is appropriate. It is also provided for in the constitution. The government should not say that they are ready for the protesting, that is being arrogant,” Kioni added.
