Speaker of the National Assembly JB Muturi has today met Raila Odinga’s allies Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni Governor) and former UNCTAD Secretary-General and 2022 presidential aspirant Mukhisa Kituyi in Makueni where the three leaders discussed 2022, as well as the new political alliance being woven by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader supremo.

At a meeting in State House last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked the Speaker of the National Assembly to be a part of the alliance, and bargain on behalf of the Mt Kenya region.

Earlier in the week, Makueni Governor resigned from Wiper Party on whose ticket he clinched the gubernatorial seat in 2017 to head the Muungano Party.

Apart from Kibwana, Mr. Odinga has other three party leaders from the Ukambani region backing his 2022 presidential bid. They are Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu (Narc Party leader) and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua (MCC leader).

Sources familiar with the high octane power politics going on behind the scenes reveal Mukhisa Kituyi, Kiraitu Murungi, Kivutha Kibwana, James Orengo and Raila Odinga have been holding frequent meetings away from the cameras.

The meetings have been made easier by the fact that the four were at one time in the same political camp, fighting for multiparty.

Meanwhile, Mr. Odinga is currently meeting Ameru leaders in Nairobi. The meeting was organized by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and the Mt Kenya Foundation team.
