On Wednesday night, ODM leader Raila Odinga had a special guest at his Karen residence in Nairobi. This came just hours after meeting the ODM Party’s top decision-making organ earlier in the day. President Uhuru Kenyatta, driven by former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo arrived at the ODM leader’s home a few minutes after 7pm and left at around 9 pm.
According to sources, the Head of State planned to visit Raila who has been ailing from Covid for the last three weeks, and was just waiting for the opportune time.
”He had the plans but had to wait for the doctors to clear Odinga. He had covid, and given the sensitivity of the issue, Uhuru had to solely rely on advice from doctors regarding Tinga’s health before he visited him. They are close buddies,” the source confided to HiviPunde.
Early last month, President Uhuru Kenyatta visited William Kabogo at his residence, and a day later the former Kiambu governor would schedule a meeting with the ODM leader at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation offices along Kiambere Road.
The source says, Wednesday night meeting between Uhuru and Raila discussed concerns over the BBI and the friction caused by some powerful individuals in government who have hijacked the BBI Secretariat. The president decided to go flat out to solidify the handshake despite claims power-wielding men in the presidency are scheming to shortchange Raila ahead of 2022
