Former Presidential candidate Peter Kenneth has thrown his weight behind the Jubilee-ODM Coalition talks, saying he cannot afford to be out of such a historic political movement he describes as cementing union between the two leaders ( Uhuru and Raila).

Speaking in Narok county on Sunday, accompanied by the area Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Mr. Kenneth said the merger was good for the country’s stability and peace beyond 2022.

”Niliona juzi hizo chama mbili za Mheshimiwa Rais na Mheshimiwa Raila Odinga zitaenda ziungane, utatupata uko ndani. Mimi niko pahali Mheshimiwa Rais and Mheshiwa Raila wako,” the former Gatanga MP said, adding,

”Na tukikua huko ndani, ndio tutasema ile kiti tunataka. Lakini itakua kule ndani ya handshake. Ni kwasababu nchi hii tunaomba amani. Na hawa viongozi wawili wakishakana, amani hupatikana.”

Meanwhile, Deputy President William Ruto has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta over the merger plans, saying the Head of State was destroying a national party (Jubilee) for tribal outfits. Ruto was speaking on Friday at Kapenguria in West Pokot county where he lashed at the Head of State over current woes facing the ruling party.

“I have heard them talk about Jubilee and ODM coming together. Let them know we are not bothered. We have our own hustlers party that has no tribal or regional boundaries. We are okay where we are.”

“These people have destroyed Jubilee, which was a national party. Now they want to tell us that everyone to establish a regional party, the UDA is for Kenya and cannot fit in a particular ethnic group,” he said.
