Bishop Jane Kirima, a close associate of Azimio running mate Martha Karua and daughter of the late Nairobi businessman and politician Gerishon Kirima was the force behind the Narc-Kenya party leader in working with Raila Odinga after the two leaders parted ways in the grand coalition government.

Kirima who runs the Kiambu Kirima Prayer Center in an interview with a local publication disclosed she initiated the discussions from her Azimio Youth for The Handshake Alliance (YoTHA) chaplain’s office and implored Karua to join the outfit.

“I’m a chaplain at the Azimio Youth for The Handshake Alliance (YoTHA) and that’s where we had a discussion with the officials to reach out to Martha and implore upon her to work with Mr. Odinga,” Ms. Kirima who boasts of long family ties with Ms. Karua said.

It was after the conversation that the Martha Karua Caucus chaired by former Gatanga MP Humphrey Njuguna was formed to organize events and a series of meetings with Mr. Odinga’s inner team before her unveiling at the KICC as Azimio’s running mate.
