Here are the New Covid-19 Containment Measures Issued by the Health Ministry

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced an extension of the dusk till dawn curfew in new containment measures to combat the Covid-19 spread.

Addressing the press, Kagwe stated that the nationwide curfew will be effective from 10 pm till 4 am everyday in all parts of the country.

This includes the 13 counties that had been dubbed as hotspot zones.

The Ministry of Health further banned all political and public gatherings for a further 30 days. Within this period, no political meetings will be allowed.

The CS further warned against self-medicating respiratory diseases saying that so far there are Kenyans who have lost their lives in the process.

Worship and in-person services in churches and religious places have been limited to only a third of their capacity with social distancing and wearing of masks emphasized.

On vaccination, Kagwe directed teachers and tutors to get vaccinated with those aged above 58 years advised to work from home.

Matatu drivers have also been advised to heed the wearing of masks directive. Any passenger not wearing masks will not be allowed to board the vehicle.

Employers in both the public and private sectors have also been asked to let employees work from home.

Mutahi Kagwe has reiterated that the new Covid-19 delta variant is very lethal hence asked netizens to practice self-responsibility.

For instance, he said that as of today, hospitals are full and it is impossible to get a hospital bed.

“You cannot get a hospital bed. Let’s be more vigilant to avoid overwhelming our hospitals. And I am not scaring you,” CS Kagwe stated.
