Kiraitu Murungi will be a part of a coalition currently being cobbled up by ODM leader Raila Odinga with the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This follows a meeting at the Meru leader’s residence in Nairobi on Thursday which was attended by Siaya Senator James Orengo, MP Maoka Maore, and Titus Imbuyi. In June this year, the Meru governor described his Jubilee Party as clueless, rudderless, planless, and disorganised, saying while indicating he is likely to use a different political party in 2022.

”The (Jubilee) party is full of horror stories only told in private, behind closed doors. Jubilee is involved in a terrible orgy of suicides, fratricides, and infanticides. During the launch of Jubilee at Kasarani on September 16, 2016, (Deputy President William) Ruto described ODM as ‘a clueless, rudderless, planless and disorganised’ party. This description now squarely applies to Jubilee,” the Meru county chief said in June.

The meeting by Dr. Murungi comes just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta made it clear to OKA principals at State House in Mombasa, that Raila Odinga was his most preferred choice in 2022. Present at the meeting were Raila and OKA chiefs Gideon Moi, Moses Wetang’ula, Musalia Mudavadi.
