Government to Recruit 24,000 Teachers from July

The government, through the Ministry of Education, on Wednesday, 28th June 2023, unveiled plans to recruit over 24,000 teachers to bridge the gap experienced across schools countrywide.

Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education, stated that the hiring process will start at the beginning of the fiscal year 2023–2024.

Machogu spoke at the Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa during the 46th Annual Conference of the Kenya Secondary Heads Association (KESSHA).

The CS gave assurances to school administrators that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) would ensure equity during the recruitment of the teachers.

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chairperson Jamleck Muturi noted that following Machogu’s directive, qualified teachers will be able to start applying for the positions on the week beginning Monday, 3rd July 2023.
