When a national leader stands before the people and tells them not to eat in hotels owned by another community, that’s not politics — that’s dangerous tribal incitement. Rigathi Gachagua, in his latest speech in Meru, crossed a line that no responsible leader should ever approach.
This is not a personal fight with the President. It is a reckless attack on the entire Kalenjin community. When Gachagua speaks like this, he’s not just opposing William Ruto — he’s targeting ordinary Kenyans trying to earn an honest living through business. That is not leadership. That is hatred wrapped in politics.
From mocking the Nandi community to now targeting Kalenjin-owned businesses, Gachagua is setting Kenya on a dangerous path. He is using tribal division as a political tool — something the country has suffered from in the past with deadly consequences. We must not allow history to repeat itself.
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) must move with speed. Gachagua’s words are not protected speech — they are incitement, and they risk peace and stability in our country. He must be arrested and charged under the law.
If Gachagua has a personal issue with President Ruto, let him deal with it directly. But dragging entire communities into personal political fights is unacceptable and extremely dangerous.
Kenya cannot afford leaders who build their careers by tearing others down along tribal lines. Gachagua is becoming a national threat — not just a political nuisance.
This country has bled before because of such careless words. We cannot allow it again. Gachagua must be stopped now, before it’s too late.
