Exit Gachagua But We Need To Fix The Country

8 mins read

These were my sentiments about this circus of former DP Gachagua in court with a hundred lawyers and going nowhere.

Where is God now for the country? These people wanted to make God the president of Kenya. And that God was going to be them. It didn’t work. Did it? What next? That is the big question for the country. Isn’t it?

Gachagua’s lawyers are trying something new claiming that without the IEBC Kithure Kindiki cannot be sworn in as the new DP. Gachagua is gone. Case closed.

Njiru, Gachagua’s lawyer, argued that since the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is not properly constituted, there would be no organ to clear Kindiki for the position.

“The DP designate or nominated must attain the qualifications to hold the office. That is to mean that there must be an organ that will give a clean bill of health to say that Kindiki attains the qualifications,” he stated.

“It is all clear to us and nobody can deny that there is no IEBC. If he is to be sworn in tomorrow, what would be the import of swearing in a person who has not been verified and approved by the organ that is supposed to do so?” he posed.

But there are a lot of things that need to be addressed in the country even as Righathi Gachagua goes through political hell. Let’s start with this IEBC issue.

Today the only person running the IEBC is Marjan Hussein and he is the most corrupt the IEBC has ever seen and they have had all crooks there.

Marjan Hussein Marjan confirmed as the CEO of IEBC

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has confirmed the appointment of Marjan Hussein Marjan as the Chief Executive Officer.

The other IEBC bosses are going to jail where they belong as well as this new guy.

Setback for former IEBC boss Oswago as court upholds jail term

Former Deputy Commission Secretary Wilson Kiprotich Shollei and former IEBC chief executive James Oswago.

Former Independent and Electoral Boundary Commission chief executive James Oswago suffered a major setback on Wednesday when the High Court declined to quash his four-year jail term.

This is in relation to his involvement in a Sh1.3 billion tender for supplying materials for the 2013 elections.

Did Oswago eat the Sh. 1.3 billion? Of course no because he does not have the stomach for that but he can do his time in jail for those who ate the money. That is IEBC.

Here is the deal. Without a competent and functioning IEBC William Ruto will win the next presidency by a landslide. Why? Because all those Gen Z Kenyans who want him out of power do not have voting cards. Kenya needs voter registration for the next three years and Ruto is gone.

Kalonzo Musyoka and his friends stopped the IEBC process and now they have their candidate there. Can Kenya have a new IEBC and start voter registration now? All these people crying about getting rid of William Ruto need to know that without new voters being registered Ruto will win the presidential election in 2027.

There are a lot of people screaming about RutoMustGo including my good friend Miguna Miguna but we have to deal with the reality that demonstrations are not going to get Ruto out of office. It will take Kenyan voters to do that and first the young Kenyans who are ready to vote now need to be registered to vote. It is not rocket science but rather common sense. Delusions are good but they just don’t work.

Now Kenya has the IEBC Planning Board set up. Let them put the IEBC in place get the financing for it for voter registration starting right away. There are 4-5 million young voters ready to register to vote. They will change the country. Who they vote for will be their choice and that is what democracy means. I am going to ask my son to come and register to vote in Kenya. He loves the country.

He always tells me that he is a Canadian citizen and always votes in Canada. He tells me I have lived in Canada more than him, 34 years. He is 26 years old. So me and him we have our fights about democracy and voting.

The other issue our country and parliament, if we still have one, has to sort is the Public Participation in our laws following the 2010 Katiba. It is a big deal for us as a country and the Kenyan Courts clearly set the rules by declaring that Public Participations goes to the Constituency Level in all 290 Kenyan constituencies. That is the law of the land as far as this very important aspect of our constitution, PP comes alive in the nation. Now we need our AG and the parliament to formulate a PP law so that it is not some random operation by legislators.

Nairobi residents queue to enter the Bomas of Kenya for public participation on DP Gachagua’s impeachment.

The latest Public Participation charade has been disturbing. This is about the bill to extend presidency to 7 years instead of life and such weird things. The PP there was set up at Bomas in one meeting. They were fighting there. Then there was the online link to parliament which allegedly was very popular but we do not know who received the communication and what they did with it.

MPs working with the new AG Dorcas Oduor should put in place a process of Public Participation in our laws as provided in the constitution. That is needed for the country right now. Can it be done? Yes If Kenya still has a a parliament.
