Duale Challenges Gachagua to Respond to President Ruto’s Accusations of Murder

Health CS Aden Duale publicly challenged Gachagua to respond to and come clean on what he termed “two fundamental issues” raised by President William Ruto this week, saying they are criminal offenses.

Speaking on Friday at the Muslim Club in Nairobi during Idd Ul Fitr prayers, Duale told the DCP leader to address the alleged alteration of his late brother’s will and the alleged involvement in the death of a young woman.

“Rigathi Gachagua has been challenged on two fundamental issues,” Duale said. “One, on how he altered the will of his brother at his deathbed in London — we want him to address that. He was also challenged on how he did something to our young girl and ultimately killed her. That’s another criminal offense. He should address that as well.”

President Ruto, while speaking in Webuye earlier this week, said Gachagua fathered pregnancies with at young women, enough to be his daughters, and orchestrated their killings after they refused to terminate the pregnancies.

Ruto also Gachagua of coercing his late brother, former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua, while on his deathbed in London, to name him executor of his will.

The President alleged that Gachagua then stripped Nderitu’s widow, Margaret Karungaru Nderitu, and her children of key family assets, including Olive Gardens Hotel, Vipingo Beach Resort, Queensgate Serviced Apartments, and several Lang’ata high-rise properties.

According to Ruto, Gachagua also pocketed Sh20 million meant for their mother and Sh16 million intended for a nephew’s education. “I appointed the widow to government to rescue her from destitution,” Ruto said, describing the alleged exploitation as “a betrayal of both kinship and public trust.”

Gachagua has not issued a formal response to the claims by his former boss, President Ruto.
