DP Gachagua Advocates for Equitable Revenue Sharing

2 mins read

In a resolute declaration, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for fair and equitable revenue sharing, emphasizing the imperative of equality in resource allocation.

During the Consecration of Assistant Bishop John Kimani Nthiga at ACK Cathedral of St Peter’s Mbeere Diocese in Siakago town, Embu County, Deputy President Gachagua articulated his unwavering support for the one-man-one-vote-one-shilling formula, asserting, “For avoidance of doubt, in matters revenue sharing, Rigathi Gachagua, Deputy President of Kenya, is a believer and a proponent of one man, one vote, one shilling.”

Gachagua stressed the significance of considering population size in the distribution of resources, stating, “It goes without saying. The more taxes you pay when it comes to sharing, the more you share. It is that way and we have no apologies.”

Highlighting the need for fairness, Gachagua underscored the disparity in resource allocation, expressing, “It would be unfair to have a constituency of about 800,000 people getting the same amount of County Development Fund (CDF) with one having a population of 14,000 residents. We want equality and equity. We want fairness in sharing of revenue.”

Furthermore, Gachagua emphasized the importance of unity in the Mt Kenya region, asserting, “Let us all be united. The strength of this region; politically, economically, and socially lies in our unity. We must always be united.”

Deputy President Gachagua’s unwavering commitment to advocating for equitable revenue sharing signals a significant development in Kenya’s ongoing discourse on resource allocation.
