Eldas MP Adan Keynan has called for an immediate audit of the Social Health Authority (SHA), citing growing concerns over the system’s accountability and the handling of Kenyans’ funds.
Speaking on Monday April 27, 2026, Keynan said issues surrounding SHA should be treated as a matter of national priority and urged the government to restore public confidence in the country’s healthcare reforms.
“It is high time that the key players, the ministry and other key professionals in this must audit the system and address the gaps as a matter of national interest and a matter of urgency. The issues being raised are weighty, and they must be addressed by those who are in charge of SHA,” Keynan said.
The MP said accountability and transparency are essential to SHA so that Kenyans can receive the quality healthcare services they deserve.
He noted that the SHA, which plays a central role in implementing the government’s universal health coverage agenda, must operate with integrity.
Keynan has appealed to Parliament to strengthen its oversight role through the Departmental Committee on Health.
He calls on the committee to take up the matter and ensure that any underlying issues within the SHA are identified and resolved promptly.
“The committee of health should take this up and deal with it as part of their oversight role,” he stated.
Keynan’s remarks come amid heightened public debate over the management of SHA, with calls for reforms to enhance accountability and service delivery to Kenyans.A
