You will be arrested if found attending a disco matanga in your village or neighborhood. This is according to Interior CS Fred Matiangi, who made the announcement over the weekend in Transzoia County.
County police commanders have been directed to confiscate music systems used the disco matangas, arrest those present and present them in court.
”We have agreed with the county security team that this thing is banned. There will be no disco matanga in Trans Nzoia from now and forever.
”Some of these girls were impregnated by adults. Before I leave Trans Nzoia today I want the county commissioner and the county police commander to tell me how many people they have arrested,” said the CS, adding that the tradition has led to underage girls getting impregnated and subsequently dropping out of school.
The Super CS, as he is popularly known in government warned local chiefs and the provincial administration against allowing any disco matangas in their locations and sublocations. Those defying the order will be stripped off their uniform and replaced.
