Oburu’s Helsmanship

Dr. Oburu Odinga as the dual leader of the Luo and ODM has created a new impetus for the Luo to protect ODM.

As Orengo appeals to the rebellious Luo instinct; Oburu has adopted the image of an old man cautioning the community to not depart from the end goal — which is the economic development of Luo Nyanza, and Kenya; above everything else.

As the Party Leader of ODM, Dr. Oburu has brought in a breath of fresh air. Stern on party discipline, open to internal debate and consensus building; protective of broad-based government and reforming electoral ethos of the ODM Party, the party leader is hard at work!

Dr. Oburu has diminished the intrusive powers formerly held by non-officials of ODM, many who happened to be members of the Odinga family itself. He has kept Winnie and her tantrums in vapor form; rendered Auntie Ruth Busia irrelevant and pivoted to the core machinery of ODM — the party’s “structure”.

For those who used the “party headquarters” as their voters, Dr. Oburu has told them to return to the grassroots and engage real voters. If this holds, the fears around ODM primaries will be a thing of the past.

Dr. Oburu has become the embracer-in-chief; a key link between Luo state officials and the party, removing unnecessary animosities and containing those with unbridled ambitions to not wreck the boat for those with no ambitions at all.

Dr. Oburu has maintained contacts with the party’s “muslim brotherhood”; stabilizing the party in Coast and Northern Kenya, its key bastions. Despite the noises from Sifuna and the bands on Osotsi’s face; ODM Party in western is in ascendancy.

Dr. Oburu has so far properly handled the bullying from the “murima fear/hatemongering machine” which initially tried to pass him as some old lunatic, but has since realized the man has an entire underground bunker full of “nuclear dust”.

The ODM Party under Dr. Oburu has refused to fade away; making it difficult for Sifuna to engineer a mass exit; and Orengo to drag the Luo out of government.

Congratulations, dear Party Leader!
