Jubilee Party to Embark on Nationwide Tours to Popularise Fred Matiang’i’s 2027 Presidential Bid

The new Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni says the party will embark on nationwide tours to popularise Fred Matiang’i’s presidential bid ahead of the 2027 General Election.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, during a media interview, Kioni revealed the party has activated its mobilisation strategy to ensure Matiang’i “hits the ground running” as Jubilee intensifies preparations for the upcoming elections in 2027.

According to Kioni, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary has already begun holding high-level consultations with groups drawn from various regions, political formations, and community leadership structures. He revealed that some of these engagements stretch late into the night as Matiang’i seeks to build a broad-based coalition ahead of the elections.

“Fred Matiang’i is always permanently in meetings. He engages people in many meetings with elders, community leaders and many more, with some going past midnight. He is not a camera or media person,” Kioni said, describing Matiang’i as a leader who avoids political theatrics and prefers quiet, strategic engagement over public spectacle.

Kioni emphasised that Jubilee’s upcoming tours will focus on grassroots mobilisation and issue-based campaigns, steering clear of what he termed “counter-crude politics.” He noted that the party’s approach will prioritise dialogue, inclusivity, and structured engagement with citizens across the country.

The Jubilee Deputy Party Leader also disclosed that the party remains open to structured talks with other opposition outfits, including the Rigathi Gachagua-led Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), as part of efforts to strengthen the united opposition front.

He added that should the opposition coalition agree on a different flagbearer, Jubilee would be willing to shelve Matiang’i’s candidacy and rally behind the chosen leader in the spirit of unity and solidarity.

“Our goal is to ensure that the opposition presents a united front in 2027. If consensus leads us to support another candidate, Jubilee will stand by that decision,” Kioni affirmed.

The announcement marks the beginning of what is expected to be an intense political season as parties position themselves for the 2027 General Election.
