Nairobi County Official Urges Residents to Follow Larry Madowo’s Example in Exposing Traffic Offenders

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, has urged city residents to emulate CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo by recording and reporting motorists who flout traffic rules.

In a video statement responding to Madowo’s viral clip showing Kibra MP Peter Orero’s vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, Mosiria praised the journalist for taking a stand against impunity on Nairobi’s roads. He emphasized that civic vigilance was crucial in promoting discipline and accountability among road users.

“Let us all follow traffic rules. If you see someone breaking them, record and report,” Mosiria said. “We must all play our part in restoring order on our roads.”

The County official also cautioned that even vehicles with siren privileges, such as ambulances and government convoys, were increasingly being misused by individuals seeking to bypass traffic without genuine emergencies.

“There are ambulances that deliberately use the wrong side of the road even when they have no patients. Some are ferrying healthy people who simply want to avoid traffic,” he warned.

Mosiria directed traffic police to remain vigilant and ensure that sirens were only used during actual emergencies. He advised citizens to record details of any suspicious vehicles and share the footage for appropriate legal action.

“If you see an ambulance misusing the siren, pull over safely, take photos or videos of the vehicle, and report it. We will ensure that the offenders are prosecuted,” he said.

Referring to the October 9 confrontation between Madowo and MP Orero, Mosiria encouraged the journalist to submit his video evidence for further action. “Larry, bring me that video and I will make sure it reaches President Ruto,” he stated.

The statement has since sparked public support, with many Kenyans applauding Mosiria’s proactive stance and calling for tougher enforcement of traffic laws to curb recklessness and VIP impunity on the roads.
