The Political Mortuary for Gachagua, Sifuna and James Orengo has Now been Completed by Them

Gachagua hints at United Opposition alliance with Sifuna-led ODM faction

Big news in our media is that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at a possible alliance between the United Opposition and the Edwin Sifuna-aligned rebel faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Speaking during an interview with K24 TV and several local Maa radio stations on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader included the Sifuna-led ODM wing in the broader United Opposition lineup.

He stated that if the faction fronts a strong presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto, such as Siaya Governor James Orengo, the current opposition principals who are eyeing the presidency would be willing to shelve their ambitions and rally behind that candidate.

He referred to the group as “ODM B” in their quest to unseat President Ruto in 2027.

Through leaders such as James Orengo, the faction has recently criticized the ODM party’s top leadership for failing to field a presidential candidate and instead backing President Ruto’s re-election bid.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, a member of the rebel group, has also expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s direction, arguing that during Raila Odinga’s political career, ODM rarely sought alliances but instead attracted other parties seeking to form coalitions.

However, ODM under Oburu Oginga has ruled out any coalition talks with Gachagua’s DCP. At the moment that is the only direction for the Sifuna and Orengo group. They can go there and join the crowd. That is a decision for them to make.

This comes at a time when united opposition principals, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP leader Martha Karua, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Democratic Party leader JB Muturi, and DCP party boss Rigathi Gachagua, are all eyeing the top seat.

They have vowed that when the right time comes, they will be ready to shelve their individual political ambitions and rally behind a single agreed candidate to challenge President William Ruto.

ODM will move on and that is good for them and for the country.

ODM convenes crucial National Executive Council meeting amid party wrangles

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) announced a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting amid deepening internal divisions over the party’s political direction.

ODM needs to push hard for the compensation of victims of state violence to be done. Invite Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) to meet with President Ruto and then join the compensation team in a leadership position and get things moving as Sifuna and his friends go dancing with Gachagua and you will see how positively Kenyans will react to such progressive thinking and plans for their country.

A section of victims of the Gen Z protests has called for the withdrawal of a court case that has temporarily blocked their compensation.

The group addressed the media at Uhuru Park in Nairobi before holding a peaceful demonstration.

They urged petitioners in the matter to reconsider their legal action, arguing that it has stalled long-awaited relief for affected families.

“Compensation is long overdue. Families cannot eat court rulings. Children cannot go to school on legal arguments. Widows cannot survive on promises. We need compensation now, not tomorrow,” the group said in a statement read by Integrated Development Network–Kenya (IDN-Kenya) national coordinator Dennis Wendo.

Wendo said thousands of Kenyan families continue to live in pain, poverty and uncertainty after losing their loved ones during the protests. He noted that many breadwinners were killed, families were shattered, and children left without support, yet little tangible assistance has reached them.

“Thousands of Kenyan families are living in pain, poverty, and uncertainty after losing their loved ones during protests. Breadwinners were killed, families were shattered, and children were left without support. To date, many of these families have received nothing,” he said.

He criticised what he termed as endless litigation that benefits a few individuals while victims remain in distress.

“Individuals thrive on endless cases while victims of protests continue to suffer,” Wendo said.

He further accused some civil society actors and what he described as self-appointed activists of frustrating efforts to roll out compensation while claiming to represent victims.

“They do not represent us, they fundraise in our name, yet families remain hungry,” he said.

The push for withdrawal of the case follows a decision by the High Court in Kerugoya to issue conservatory orders temporarily halting the operations of the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Public Protests, pending the full hearing of a case filed against it.

Among those who spoke at Uhuru Park was a protest victim who said his life has been drastically altered by injuries sustained during the demonstrations.

He said he used to work as a construction worker but can no longer earn a living because of injuries he suffered.

He was shot in the leg on July 7, 2025, in the Githurai area of Nairobi.

Unable to resume manual labour, he said he now depends on well-wishers to survive and support his family.

These are the real issues Kenyans want to be addressed by the President Ruto and ODM team and not sideshows that Kenyans are seeing with the Sifuna and Orengo team.

Let Edwin Sifuna and Jamess Orengo join Gachagua in his DCP and good luck for them there. End the issue and Sifuna and company can have a great marriage with Rigathi Gachagua and his party. That could possibly be the best thing for the country. Move it on. Thank you.

Orengo’s ODM faction vows to form next govt without UDA - People Daily

Gachagua is just ruining the political life of the likes of Sifuna, James Orengo and Babu Owino because their hope would have been to go to Kalonzo Musyoka and pretend they do not want to be associated with the crazy tribalist which is what defines Rigtahi Gachagua in Kenya politics.

Now when Kalonzo sees Gachagua may even try to nominate some of them for the big office, he is not even going to talk to them. So these few ODM rebels will be stuck with Gachagua which is like being given a bedroom in a small corner of hell and told to just chill there. Good for them because that is what they are asking for and they sure will get it.

Luckily for both Gachagua and Sifuna ODM has handed Sifuna to Wamunyoro. Maybe he can be elected as Nyeri Senator or Mathira M.P after 2027 elections.

One thing Sifuna is not going to do is to quit ODM and set up a senate seat by-election in Nairobi because he knows he will lose and Gachagua is not going to go to bed with him on that and will pick their own DCP candidate to beat Sifuna there. Of course, ODM will have their own candidate for such by-election.

In a significant shake-up, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Executive Committee (NEC) has relieved Secretary General Edwin Sifuna of his duties with immediate effect.

“Party National Executive Committee meeting in Mombasa today has resolved to relieve SG @edwinsifuna of his responsibilities with immediate effect,” ODM stated.

On human rights, ODM called on the national government to allocate adequate funds in the forthcoming supplementary budget to compensate victims of human rights violations, proposing that the funds be channeled through the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) to ensure transparency and accountability.

ODM calls for swift implementation of 10-Point Agenda
ODM names Oburu Oginga acting party leader

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called on all stakeholders to urgently address impediments slowing the implementation of the 10-Point Agenda and the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

In resolutions issued on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Mombasa, the party expressed concern over the pace of reform implementation and called for goodwill from all parties involved.

“The NEC received and deliberated upon a progress report on the implementation of the Party’s 10-Point Agenda and the work of the Committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of both the 10-Point Agenda and the NADCO Report,” the statement read.

Challenges encountered

According to the resolutions, the NEC acknowledged the efforts of the committee overseeing implementation while noting significant challenges hampering progress.

“The NEC expressed its appreciation to the Committee for its diligence and commitment despite notable challenges,” ODM stated.

The party urged all relevant stakeholders to demonstrate commitment to the agreed reforms.

“The NEC further called upon all relevant stakeholders and parties to urgently address the impediments that have slowed progress, and to demonstrate goodwill in ensuring the full and faithful implementation of agreed reforms,” the statement added.

The NEC also mandated National Assembly Leader of Minority Junet Mohammed to institute mechanisms ensuring a proposed allocation of Ksh450 billion to counties is made mandatory in the supplementary budget.

“With this regard, the NEC mandated the Leader of Minority Hon. Junet Mohammed to institute mechanisms to ensure the proposed allocation of Ksh450B to Counties is made mandatory in the supplementary budget,” the resolutions stated.

ODM is moving and quite frankly they may be the most focused political party in Kenya today. Their members look at them now and say, yes that is our ODM and it is the party Raila Odinga left for them. That can’t be bad, can it?

You know one strange thing that could happen to ODM rebels, they should turn to Martha Karua PLP and talk to her to be part of her party. Let’s face it, Martha Karua may look completely dead politically, but she is a committed patriot. Kenyans respect that from her.

If Martha Karua can get Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and others from ODM to her party that could be a political resurrection for her party. What is wrong with that? And they don’t have to do that from an antagonistic battle. No, just let allow those ODM members to leave and go wherever they want or just stay as ODM members.

Nobody will ever doubt Martha Karua’s commitment to her country and it is time to take the political battle on the ground to a new level. Those are the lessons of history. If you are ODM you have to keep all your options to be in government after August 10, 2027 elections. Just stick to what is best for the country. Kenyans are watching that very closely.

Name Martha Karua as your running mate, Women in Azimio ask Raila ...

Who knows if these ODM rebels join Martha Karua PLP and the ODM deal with UDA falls apart Kenya could have ODM and Martha Karua PLP running for the presidency and take the government of Kenya to serve the citizens. Maybe I am mad but that is a great possibility for our country. Who knows. How about if ODM supports Martha Karua for the presidency in 2027. She would win it hands down. Look at the math please.

And now James Orengo wants to know who killed Raila Odinga. Certainly, it is not Dr. Oburu Oginga who is the acting ODM leader who killed his brother, so there is no reason to attack and disrespect him which is what Orengo and his team have been doing with no shame. Now they want to go pick Raila’s dead body from the grave to come save them and give them ODM to take to Wamunyoro. It is not going to happen and these people need to find something else to do for their own sake.

Raila Odinga is not going to Wamunyoro with these desperate people. Just leave his body at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi where it is if that is not too much to ask. Sometimes you have to feel sorry for our good friend Raila Odinga. Now the likes of Orengo, Sifuna and Babu Owino are hanging on him because they claim he chose them as our new kings in the country. Wait till you go to heaven and you talk to Raila about that. Nobody else is interested in that story.

For now, Kenyans are interested on where the country is going for the good of all Kenyans and if you look at the complete package of what ODM NEC came up with in their meeting, it is very good from the compensation package for victims of state violence to demanding the implantation of NADCO 10-point agreement. You don’t hear any of that from the Sifuna and Orengo team. For them the only thing that happened at ODM meeting is that Edwin Sifuna was fired and now they are at his knees as their new boss. Good for them.

Raila’s passing remains a mystery, says Orengo

“Those who bear responsibility for the death of Raila are out there, and they are silent about it.”

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accompanied by ODM party members, addresses journalists at the Savora Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, on February 12, 2026.

“I want to say without fear of contradiction, the death of Raila Odinga, which is still a mystery to a lot of us, those who bear responsibility for the death of Raila, are out there, and they are silent about it,” Orengo said.

He added that uncovering the circumstances surrounding the death should remain a key objective for those who believe in justice and accountability.

“I hope that one day we will determine the circumstances in which Raila passed away. And that must be an objective that we must achieve,” he stated.

Yes, Raila Odinga passed away but those who are trying to kill ODM like Orengo and Sifuna so they can bury ODM with Raila will not succeed. It is not rocket science, fellas, you are going nowhere and you know that and there is nothing to help you in that business you have chosen. Just move on to some other party and leave ODM alone. You can pick James Orengo as your presidential candidate in 2027 and Rigathi Gachagua will be his deputy president and it is all done. What is wrong with that?

James Orengo should worry about his development record as Siaya Governor because Raila is not going to be there to support him anymore when he goes missing from work.

If the Orengo and Sifuna team were smart, the first thing they would have done is to go to a private meeting with the ODM leadership after the ODM NEC resolutions and address issues in privacy with respect to their own party instead of a media blowout which they know will just make things worse. James Orengo has been in politics long enough to understand those dynamics. What is the problem for him and his new team now?

What does James Orengo want now because he is the grandmaster of the three ODM rebels and he started a rally with them in Siaya County and they were booed out and had to run from there.
