Tanzanian independent media editor and human rights defender Maria Tsehai has been kidnapped by three armed men in a black Noah from Chaka Place, Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya at 3.15pm today.

Amnesty Kenya reports.

The incident follows a series of troubling actions involving local dissidents against President Ruto and other asylum seekers in Kenya.

Dr. Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate for Uganda’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party and a prominent critic of President Yoweri Museveni, was also abducted from an apartment complex in Nairobi on the afternoon of November 16, 2024.

On July 23, 36 FDC members were arrested in Kisumu, Kenya, and deported to Uganda under terrorism charges, despite entering Kenya legally.

On October 18, seven Turkish asylum seekers were abducted in Nairobi, with four forcibly returned to Turkey two days later.
