Ousted Nairobi Governor is currently at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, in Nairobi, after spending the night at the Muthaiga Police Station on Monday night.

Sonko will be presented in court this morning as investigators dig deep into his claims, in collaboration with senior state officials, he organised violence against ODM and its supporters in 2017.

The former Nairobi Governor recently made startling claims, that him, together with Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, planned and executed the 2017 chaos, which saw a number of ODM supporters killed and brutalized after the disputed presidential elections.

Mike Sonko presented himself to the DCI after attempts to stop the state, through the courts, from questioning him failed. According to his lead lawyer, John Khaminwa, the High Court dismissed Sonko’s Monday morning application forcing him to honor DCI summons.

According to sources from the DCI, apart from being investigated for the 2017 post poll events, Sonko also faces seven counts of robbery with violence and five counts of assault for incidents that were investigated by the DCI in Buruburu.
