Sifuna, Babu Owino Launch “Linda Mwananchi” Tours to Engage ODM Supporters

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and a section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have unveiled plans for a new grassroots initiative dubbed the Linda Mwananchi Tours, set to kick off in Busia County on Sunday.

The tour, whose name translates to “Protect the Citizen,” aims to engage ordinary Kenyans across various regions on issues of governance, the rising cost of living, and the country’s political direction as the 2027 election cycle approaches.

According to the organisers, the initiative is designed as a direct response to growing economic and political anxieties among Kenyan households. It seeks to provide a platform for citizens to voice their concerns, which will then be relayed to both county and national leadership forums.

The Busia launch event is expected to draw a wide array of political leaders, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, alongside other ODM figures. The organisers describe the tour as a multi-stop engagement that will traverse key constituencies across ODM bases in the country.

Linda Mwananchi faction, according to insiders, represents a shift toward prioritising the needs of ordinary voters over elite political rhetoric.

Beyond its citizen engagement goals, the tour also carries strategic political significance.

For Sifuna, Owino, and their allies, the initiative offers an opportunity to strengthen their grassroots networks, maintain visibility, and reinforce their influence within ODM and the broader national political landscape.
