President William Ruto has responded to criticism over the alleged Ksh200 million cost of his recent trip to the US. During the National Prayer Breakfast in Nairobi, Ruto made a shocking revelation, stating, “It cost the Republic of Kenya less than Ksh10 million.”
The President explained that despite being quoted Ksh70 million for the cheapest plane, he opted to use the national carrier.
However, his friends intervened, offering him a plane for Ksh10 million when he expressed willingness to pay up to Ksh20 million. Ruto’s decision to go with the cheaper option showcases his commitment to responsible stewardship and implementing austerity measures.
Ruto further pledged to lead the country in the right financial direction, promising that Kenya will not need to borrow to fund the budget in the next three years.
He commended his economic team for their efforts, stating, “I am proud of the support I get from my economic team led by Professor Ndii and all the others. They are doing a good job.”
The President urged Kenyans to shift their focus to the benefits of the trip rather than solely the cost, emphasizing the need for the country to continue living within its means.
This unexpected turn of events sheds new light on the controversy surrounding President Ruto’s trip expenses.
