Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya says ODM leader Raila Odinga is happy young party adherents submitted an application for the party’s presidential ticket. Oparanya, who is also one of the ODM deputy leaders submitted his applications for the top seat, together with his Mombasa counterpart, Hassan Joho.
”Whether competing against Raila for the party ticket or not, I am on firmly on the race. The truth is Raila never applied. I spoke to him. In fact, he is happy to see the younger party adherents go for this,” the Kakamega boss on Friday.
On his part, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho disclosed he will fully adhere to the decision by ODM Party’s National Elections Board and the nomination guidelines of the orange party.
For the first time since the formation of ODM in 2005, its leader Raila Odinga has not submitted an application to compete for the presidential ticket, sending both opponents and allies into a wave of confusion.
If the latest development is anything to go by, deputy leaders Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho remain as the only contenders for the party’s presidential torch.
