President Uhuru to meet Mt Kenya leaders in Limuru next month

2 mins read

President Uhuru Kenyatta will meet all Mt Kenya leaders in Limuru next month, to give the vote-rich region a ‘political direction’ and tell them who his preferred successor was.

This revelation follows a meeting of allies of the president and those of the DP as well as leaders of fringe Mt Kenya political parties.

Sources from the Monday forum in Nairobi reveal officials organizing the meeting intend to form a secretariat with representation from each political party in the region, thereafter set a date and an agenda for the meeting with the Head of State, something which was confirmed by TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri.

”The meeting was convened because of the unity of Mt Kenya which must happen. We also met to prepare for the larger meeting that we expect to hold soon and whose dates we will be announced,” he added.

Sources within the corridors power reveal President Uhuru has bestowed his trust upon the former Devolution CS to make the meeting a success and has been reaching out to him through Environment CS Keriako Tobiko, after he (Kiunjuri) was sacked from the cabinet.

Speaking after the meeting with a section of Mt Kenya leaders, Kiunjuri was adamant Mt Kenya parties will not fold to suit any politician’s presidential interests, and that they will remain plus work independently in 2022.

”We will not fold up our individual parties. Parties will remain independent but despite this, we must ensure there is the unity of our people,” the former CS added.

Other leaders present at the meeting were Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and a host of Kieleweke lawmakers who support President Uhuru including Kanini Kega (Kieni), Sabina Chege (Murang’a Woman Rep), Kabinga Wachira (Mwea), and Jude Njomo (Kiambu).
