President Ruto throws weight behind Wetangula’s aide for Bungoma seat

Wafula Wakoli, an aide to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula is emerging as the frontrunner in the upcoming Bungoma Senatorial by-election after getting the backing of the President’s UDA party and the outfit’s point man in the county, Didmus Barasa.

The seat fell vacant after Moses Wetang’ula quit to contest for the position of National Assembly speaker.

If picked by Kenya Kwanza , Mr. Wakoli will face off with the Azimio candidate former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi (DAP-Kenya).

Others in the race are Jacob Machacha Majembe, an ally of former Cabinet minister Fred Gumo and Bishop Harman Kasili who is the chairman of the Lake Region Economic Bloc private sector organisations.
