Azimio One-Kenya leader Raila Odinga will lead the Luo Community in a cultural extravaganza Piny Luo (Luo Nation) in Homabay County on June 30 and July 1st, an event that will bring together members of the Luo community with the sole aim of fostering unity.

Piny Luo cultural event will also see the reconstitution of the Luo Council of Elders and the installation of a new Luo Ker, who will replace the late Opiyo Otondi.

The 2023 Piny Luo event mirrors the Luo Union festivals by Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in the 1950s, events he used to rally the Luo nation behind him.

Governors Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay, Anyang’ Nyong’o of Kisumu, Ochillo Ayacko of Migori, and James Orengo of Siaya are the key organizers and are working round the clock to ensure the festival is a success.

The two-day carnival will also see Raila Odinga firm his political grip in the region amidst a growing political onslaught by President William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
