Former Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has continued with his attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stating that his relevance in opposition is limited only to his ability to charge Mount Kenya.
In a statement shared on his social media handles on Saturday, September 20, 2025, according to the former lawmaker, Gachagua’s only currency in opposition is being tired of charging Mt Kenya; without that, he brings nothing to the table.
Wambugu, who for the recent past has been on Gachagua’s throat, states that Gachagua knows that his stay in opposition largely depends on polarising the mountain against the government, and that is why his fellow opposition principals have endeared themselves to him, and that if he can’t sustain this, he is of no use to the opposition.
“Gachagua also knows his relevance in the opposition is based entirely on his ability to charge Mt Kenya. Without this, he is of absolutely no use to Kalonzo & Co. So he can’t afford the current reversal of his fortunes in Mt Kenya.”
This comes at a time when Gachagua is at the centre of the united opposition, which has joined hands to make sure that President Ruto is not elected for his second term.
