Some have started picking petty squabbles with officials of the Ruto administration they did not participate in appointing.
In the process, they are creating unnecessary factional wars within the Luo community that distracts everyone from pursuing a common agenda. Hiding behind the ODM party, they are pursuing self-serving political power whose ends only serve them, their siblings, relatives, and a small coterie of associates who seem to be doing well while the vast majority around them remain poor and in debt, eking out life one day at a time.
You go to counties and find young peers working for some of our governors who can barely live through the month. Those used to removing people from their positions of service — without justifiable reasons — and merely as a show of might and power should level up now.
Some other governors want the Luo community to form empty alliances with primitive tribalists. That we somehow join the people who insult us here daily; and who get very angry and bitter whenever they see some progress on our end. That we are the ones who must continually accommodate people who long ruled us out. That doing so is fighting for democracy and human rights. That we are to fight for the rights of people who, when free, will quickly put us back in bondage? This will not happen.
Others are slowed with body exhaustion; with mental faculties giving up on Kenya’s tortuous politics. At a certain age, one is allowed to be self-absorbed with personal gratification, though.
The Luo community must focus on one goal: the development of Kenya which includes the development of the Luo homeland. The politics we must play is one where the development of the Luo homeland is at the very core of the national development agenda. At this point in time, only one formation can deliver this dream; the formation atop which sits President William Samoei Ruto.
The Luo cannot form government in 2027 because we don’t have a viable candidate. It means the Luo must stay in the current government and vote for it to ensure it retains power in 2027. Any attempt to remove the Luo from government will not succeed, regardless of who is in pursuit.
