KEBS: Ndovu maize floor unfit for consumption

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has listed Ndovu Maize Flour among maize meal brands to be withdrawn from the market for not complying with the Standardization Act.

In a memo to Retail Traders Association CEO Wambui Mbarire, KEBS Director of Market Surveillance Peter Kaigwara asks the body to inform its members to recall the listed brands’ batches and remove them from the supply chain of its members’ outlets across the country.

”It is also the responsibility of the brand owners to demonstrate compliance of the other batches not tested before continued sale,” the memo reads in part.

Apart from Ndovu Maize flour, maize meal brands also listed as non-compliant are Bel’s Organic- Composite maize floor, Diamond sifted maize meal, Jasiri sifted maize meal, Family, Jema sifted maize meal, and Jibu maize floor.

Others are Mugambo sifted maize floor, Prestige sifted maize floor, Range corn sifted maize meal, Sima Tamu fortified maize meal, Top White sifted maize meal and Winnies Ugali Afya.
