Inside President Uhuru’s strategy to reclaim Mt Kenya

1 min read

President Uhuru Kenyatta has lined up a series of political activities in his Mt Kenya backyard that will see him go to the grassroots reviving the ruling Jubilee Party’s fortunes in the region after a four-year stranglehold by DP Ruto.

Determined to assert his political dominance and make his weight felt in the region, the Head of State is promising access to state privileges, big money, and campaign resource mobilization not only to loyal Mt Kenya MPs but also to aspirants seeking elective positions using the Jubilee ticket in the region.

After being mandated last month to lead Jubilee Party even upon retirement, Uhuru Kenyatta took charge in monitoring the progress of the ongoing revival of Jubilee across the country.

Last weekend, the Head of State addressed through the phone hundreds of aspirants from Kiambu county in one of the many similar meetings going on across Mt Kenya away from the cameras.

Leaders present in the meeting held at a venue along Kiambu Road included Transport PS Joseph Njoroge, State House Principal Administrative Secretarive Kennedy Kihara, CAK chair Ngene Gituki, David Murathe, and MKU Chair Simon Gicharu.

President Kenyatta is said to have shifted his focus on rejuvenating Jubilee and is not keen on giving attention to fringe parties from the region.
