ODM leader Raila Odinga says he supports Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s quest for the presidency in 2022. Speaking in Mombasa on Wednesday, the ODM leader says, just like any other party member, Joho had every right to compete for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of 2022.
”After every year we have elections and the seats remain vacant. ODM is a national party and people have the liberty to vie for positions.
”Joho is the deputy party leader, they have the right to vie for any seat and every Kenyan has the same right. It is the ODM party who will decide who will fly the flag. I support Joho’s quest for the presidency,” Raila Odinga said.
Joho, who is also serving his final term as the Governor for Mombasa has declared his intention to run for the presidency and has already asked Raila Odinga for his support.
”I have heard of people questioning my capabilities. If they cannot win the top seat, then that is their problem. As for me, I will not stop at anything else apart from the presidency,” Joho said.
The flamboyant governor is expected to face off with Raila Odinga and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in the party’s primaries to pick its 2022 flagbearer.
