Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared that he is ready to run for the presidency, saying Kenya needs urgent fixing.
Addressing a rally at Gusii Stadium on May 2, 2025, Matiang’i announced that he had finally decided to pursue the country’s top seat following numerous requests from Kenyans.
“I am ready to be President of Kenya,” Matiang’i declared as the crowd erupted in cheers.
“As you know, I have no problem executing any job, whether at night or during the day — that won’t be a problem,” he said, urging the Gusii community to register as voters ahead of 2027.
Kenya has challenges, but I want to ask you not to lose hope in our country. We are a nation built on resilience. Let’s join hands, and when the time comes, we will fix and make our country better.”
Fred Mataiang’i has been our of the country while Kenyan opposition leaders were yelling and screaming about getting rid of President William Ruto.
So far all that the so called opposition leaders have done is to find names for their new parties. They have no clue on anything about mass mobilization to take President Ruto to task. In fact the Kenyan opposition today has no idea about what mass mobilization means.
Kalonzo has a new party and nobody knows the name of that new party. Martha Karua has a new one too and finally Rigtathi Gachagua invented a name for his yet to be registered political party.
“Kill me Quick” is what Fred Matiang’i has done to the Kenyan opposition parties. Good for them and maybe good for the country.
One thing with Matiang’i other than his record of killing Kenyans is that he has a lot of money. He is going to attract a lot of support from desperate politicians seeking re-election. Kalonzo has no money. Martha Karua is broke. All these opposition people are hoping that Gachagua will spend his money to support them. That will never happen and even Gachagua doesn’t have that much money.

In Kisii town, jubilant supporters carried posters emblazoned with Matiang’i’s image, alongside messages calling for accountability, unity, and leadership revival.
Vendors paused business, and traders climbed atop their stalls to catch a glimpse of the former powerful minister as he waved to the crowd from the roof of his car.
Now Uhuru Kenyatta and Fred Matiang’i have launched a full presidential election campaign and that is just two weeks after Matiang’i arrived in Kenya. He is on the move. Here is the bad news for those screaming on the internet about Matiang’i as the new saviour for Kenyans.
Matiang’i was a murderer of children and opposition activists in 2017/18 election for Uhuru Kenyatta. Matiang’i is a mega thief of public resources as Kenyans know. That man has zero chance of beating William Ruto in 2027 elections. Even he knows that but he is going to run in the hope that when William Ruto goes out in 2032 he can be a frontline candidate. That is what the entire Kenyan opposition is fighting for today.
How about Matiang’i as the presidential candidate and Rigathi Gachagua as his DP. Don’t laugh please. At least not loudly. And Kalonzo Muysoka is running so he can end his 15 years of waiting and lose so he can go home and try to get a job.
The other thing Matiang’i has done is to kill any hope the former Chief Justice David Maraga would run for the presidency. Gusii folks and elders must already be telling him that they have the next president of Kenya and he should not mess it up.
And Uhuru who is Matiang’i’s mentor definitely hates Justice Maraga with a passion because he is the one who ruled that Uhuru rigged the 2017 presidential elections and forced Uhuru to rig again in 2018. So this works and Uhuru has no problems with Ruto continuing as the president after 2027 elections.
What are the other fake opposition leaders doing? Nothing as usual other than sitting on wooden chairs at Wamunyoro. Where is that going to take you? Nowhere and they are fine with that. One thing that may surprise a lot of Kenyans is how many of the opposition parties are going to run to President William Ruto to support him in 2027 and ask him for support in 2032. That is next.
Gachagua hosts Embu residents, leaders at Wamunyoro home

The delegation from Embu was led by Manyatta MP and chairman of Young Parliamentarians, Gitonga Mukunji, and other leaders.
The former DP said they underscored his commitment to a consultative approach to issues affecting Kenyans and fellow countrymen.
“At Wamunyoro Residence earlier today, I heard the people of Embu County. I will be with you every step of the way towards a better Kenya where no one is left behind,” he said.
This comes days after former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, on April 24, led a delegation of key political leaders from the Meru region in officially joining former Gachagua’s camp.
The ex-CS was among several political heavyweights who gathered at Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence for strategic talks, as the political landscape in the Mt. Kenya region continues to shift.
The move also highlighted Gachagua’s growing influence in the region despite his ouster.

Gachagua has declared his presidential ambitions, barring any legal hindrances.
On April 29, Gachagua met several other leaders, including former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, for a crucial meeting as they firm up their 2027 plans.
The high-stakes meeting in Nairobi was part of a series of high-profile engagements organised by the opposition as part of early efforts to build a national movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other leaders who attended included Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua (PLP), Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-K), Mukhisa Kituyi, former CSs Mithika Linturi and Justin Muturi.

He, however, said that he would fully support whichever candidate the opposition agrees on if he is not chosen.
“I am vying for the presidency, as are Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, and Eugene Wamalwa. We are all looking for votes. In the end, we shall talk and agree to back one candidate. Even if it’s not me, I will support whoever we settle on,” he said.
And now some practical things. This real great BBC documentary on “Blood Parliament” should be shown everywhere. The video is available. Take it to the National Theatre in Kenya. Show it everywhere in the country.
Even opposition leaders who post pictures of all the funerals they attend cannot post the “Blood Parliament” documentary of their X files. What are they scared of?
Take it to Ofafa Hall in Kisumu and citizens will come and watch it and make their own conclusions. This documentary should be shown in all our colleges and universities in the country.
Instead of just complaining about the arrest of Kenyan movie makers arrested because of alleged involvement in the documentary, everybody in the human rights movements should just announce they are having the documentary shown to the Kenyan people everywhere.
My son put it to me on live TV in our home because he saw I was watching it on the laptop. It is long and frightening but also very inspiring when you see those young Kenyans so brave and determined against all odds. What a country we have with them. Thank you very much.
Filmmakers behind ‘Blood Parliament’ expose released after public uproar

Four filmmakers arrested in connection with the production of BBC’s Blood Parliament documentary have been released on free bond, following public outcry.
Nicholas Wambugu, Brian Adagala, Chris Wamae, and Markdenver Karubiu were arrested on Friday at their studio in Karen, Nairobi, and later detained at Pangani and Muthaiga police stations. Their equipment is, however, still withheld.
The arrests sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many questioning the grounds for their detention.
The documentary is online and our political groups should just record and show it to Kenyans and it is truly amazing to listen to those Kenyans talking to the world. Hanifa Adan is great there and Kenyans have a great leader in her.
Kenyan Human Rights Commission (KHRC) should be showing this documentary everywhere in the country. Does KHRC still exist?
