Governor Sakaja to take over NMS this Friday

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is poised to take over the functions of Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) that had been transferred from the county government this Friday, at a ceremony also attended by Director General Mohammed Badi.

Statement from the County’s Director of Communications Beryl Okundi indicates Badi, also the NMS boss will hand over the functions as per the deed of transfer to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, at City Hall Nairobi.

“On Friday 30th September 2022, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, Director General, Lt. General Mohammed Badi will formally hand over all functions as per the Deed of Transfer to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja,” she stated.

During his gubernatorial campaigns, Sakaja promised to take the NMS roles back to the county.

At the new Governor’s swearing-in, NMS boss Major Badi committed to a smooth transition and successful transfer of all duties he was undertaking in the NMS under President Uhuru’s administration.

The deed of transfer was signed on February 25, 2020, by then Governor Mike Sonko and then Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, with the blessings of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
