Governor Sakaja collides with State House over Nairobi CEC Slots

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has rejected calls from State House to have him appoint to his cabinet individuals fronted by President William Ruto and his allies.

Reports indicate the president wants his men to hold the Land, Finance, Health, Roads, and Planning dockets, something the Governor has refused, putting him at loggerheads with the Head of State.

Apart from the demands from State House, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and DP Rigathi Gachagua are also said to be pressuring Sakaja to appoint their men to serve in the Nairobi County cabinet.

The naming of Nairobi County CECs has been rocked by delays despite an announcement by the governor earlier this month that the list of individuals to serve in his cabinet was ready for submission to the County Assembly for vetting.
