Governor Gladys Wanga Accuses Gachagua of Exploiting Gen Z Protests to Topple Ruto Government

In a bold and charged statement, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of hijacking the ongoing Gen Z-led protests to further his own political ambitions.

Speaking at Asumbi National School in Rangwe Constituency during the issuance of a Ksh 50 million bursary from the NG-CDF, Wanga claimed that Gachagua is using the youth-driven movement as a smokescreen to destabilize the country with the ultimate goal of ascending to power through unconstitutional means.

According to Wanga, the protests that have rocked Nairobi and other parts of the country are not entirely organic but were “well-planned and executed” by political forces within the opposition, allegedly led by Gachagua.

She accused the former Deputy President of orchestrating unrest and pushing the country toward a state of anarchy to force a regime change, all while cloaking himself behind the noble grievances of the youth.

“The ODM party supports inclusive governance and dialogue, not chaos disguised as civil action. If Gachagua wants to lead, he should wait for the ballot in 2027, not manipulate protests to seize power through the backdoor,” Wanga stated.

Echoing her sentiments, Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo urged opposition leaders to respect constitutional channels, accusing them of riding on the energy and pain of the Gen Z protesters for political mileage. She stressed that the youth have genuine demands and should not be used as pawns in broader political games.

As the protests continue to draw national and international attention, the allegations from ODM leaders add a new layer to the unfolding political drama, raising questions about the true drivers behind the demonstrations and the future of Kenya’s political stability.
