1 min read

In light of escalating tensions in Lebanon, the Kenyan government has launched an urgent evacuation plan to protect its citizens. The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs issued a statement expressing grave concern about the deteriorating situation in the region.

“Kenyans in Lebanon, we have noted with deep concern the unfolding situation in Lebanon,” the statement warns. “We are appealing to those who can move to safer areas within Lebanon and those able to leave the country to do so.”

To facilitate the evacuation, the Ministry has established multiple registration channels. Kenyans in Lebanon are urged to register urgently through an online link or contact the Ministry at +96590906719, +96171175006, or +254114757002. Family members can also reach out for safety coordination or visit the Ministry offices located at Old Mutual Building, Upper Hill Road.

The Ministry further called on the Kenyan diaspora to share this critical information, stating, “We are also requesting Kenyans in the Diaspora to help convey this information to as many people as possible, especially our brothers and sisters in Lebanon.”

As Beirut airport sees an influx of people attempting to flee amid fears of an impending full-scale conflict, tensions have surged due to recent violence, including the killing of Hamas’ leader and an Israeli strike in Beirut.

The Kenyan government remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of its citizens and promises continuous updates via social media as the situation unfolds.
