Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i is back in the country. He landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 10:00 pm on Saturday night aboard KLM Flight 0566.

Last week, the government said the ex-CS departed from Kenya on February 19, 2023, through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport via KLM flight number KL 566.

Matiang’i, the Immigrations Department revealed is a holder of Diplomatic passport number DK0067 with a regular Kenyan passport number BK276318, which was issued on January 12, 2022.

The former CS will present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters tomorrow, Monday at 11:00 am.

Matiang’i has been under probe by the DCI, questioning him over the alleged police raid at his house in February.

In addition, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) wrote a letter last week to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, seeking information on the former CS’s declared wealth.

In the letter dated February 27th, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak stated that the Commission is carrying out investigations involving Matiang’i and requested certified copies of the declaration of income, assets, and liabilities forms for the years 2012 to 2022, including the initial and final declarations.
