Former Busia Woman Rep Florence Mutua has resigned from her position as the ODM Party Deputy Secretary General.

Announcing her resignation on Wednesday, Ms. Mutua said she was honored to have served and be a part of the biggest party in Kenya, and her out of the office means paving way for others to also serve in the position.

”I have since resigned as the ODM Deputy Secretary General. I have served the party with the dedication and commitment so desired,” the former Woman Rep wrote.

”It has been an honor to have been a part of the biggest party in Kenya,” she added.

Ms. Mutua also dismissed reports from some quarters that her resignation was due to a feeling of betrayal, with reports that ODM had nominated Winnie Odinga for the EALA, instead of considering her.

”My resignation has nothing to do with any of that. And I am happy that Winnie Odinga gets EALA. This is one very independent lady who has worked very hard for the Party/ Coalition politics aside. I support,” she noted.

Mutua missed the ODM ticket in her bid for Busia governor, losing to Paul Otuoma, who eventually won the race. In the nominations held in April, she garnered 30,696 votes against Dr Otuoma’s 49,330.
